We are taking expressions of interests for members to join the Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Aboriginal Advisory Group (AAG).

  • This is a renumerated position (sitting fee and associated costs where applicable)
  • 12-month term (annual tenure review)
  • Applications welcome from Northern and Mid-Coast New South Wales

The Aboriginal Advisory Group is a newly established initiative by the Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Project, aimed at fostering inclusive and culturally respectful development. This group seeks to include Aboriginal representatives with diverse backgrounds and expertise to provide crucial insights and guidance throughout the Project's lifecycle.

Objectives of the Aboriginal Advisory Group include but are not limited to:

Cultural Preservation:

  • Advocate for the protection and integration of Aboriginal cultural heritage within the Project
  • Develop strategies that honour and promote Aboriginal traditional knowledge

Community Engagement:

  • Ensure active participation and representation of Aboriginal communities in the Project’s development and decision-making processes
  • Facilitate open and transparent communication between the Project team and Aboriginal communities

Sustainable Development:

  • Provide expertise to align the Project with sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local communities
  • Support initiatives that enhance economic and social outcomes for Aboriginal communities

Who we are looking for:

The Aboriginal Advisory Group seeks members with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences to achieve its objectives in cultural preservation, sustainable development, and community engagement. We encourage applications from Aboriginal people with a variety of expertise

Specifically, we are looking for individuals who:

  • are Aboriginal
  • have a strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultural practices and traditions
  • have experience working on First Nations-led or targeted projects
  • demonstrate strategic thinking skills and can provide advice to the project
  • understand the challenges faced by Aboriginal communities and recognise responsibilities and the opportunities the project may offer
  • have experience in community engagement

Your contribution will be invaluable in guiding the Advisory Group to meet its objectives effectively.

Please provide a short response (maximum 300–400 words) addressing how your skills and experience would be suited to the role of an advisory group member.
